New Clients

Are you a new client to Stone Concepts?

Here are a few things to help get you started.
Do you have plans/sketches and photos?

If you are unsure on how to measure your space for pricing, let us know, and we will
send someone to measure for you. Quick sketches with dimensions are suitable as well.
Please send a photo of the room for the estimators to visualize your space. Make sure to
indicate the following for pricing:
– Backsplash wall locations, height dimension or full height
– Sink style (Undermount, Vessel, Top Mount/Drop-In, Farmer Sink or Integrated
Sink)
Edge Detail
– Do you have a stove cutout? (Drop In or Flush Mount)

Please let your estimator know if you do not have a general contractor, trim carpenter or other specialist to assist this installation. When a natural stone countertop has an overhang that exceeds 8”, brackets are required to support the stone. It is recommended that there is a support bracket for every 12” of the overhang. Engineered Quartz, on the other hand, is more durable and this does not require support up to 12”. However, it is always a good idea to install brackets to ensure that the quartz countertop does not snap or break if unexpected and unreasonable weight is placed on the overhang. A floating shower bench will also require support regardless of the stone type.

Here is a great steel bracket resource – Original Granite Bracket

Stone Concepts is very skilled with this installation, and we prefer to execute this scope. Plywood subtops are required when the countertop is not a standard 3cm or 2cm thickness. If the design intent is to build up the edge, this will involve mitering the countertop to the desired dimension; which will leave an empty cavity in between the stone top and the cabinets. We will need to fill that space with plywood to support the stone.

Please let your estimator know if you do not have a general contractor or other specialist to assist with demolition. Being demolition ready means the following:

– All obstructing appliances  like microwaves, etc, are removed prior to the date scheduled

The template is the part where we send our skilled personnel to take exact measurements that we can fabricate to, and assess any potential issues with the installation; like the requirement for support at overhangs, etc. This is not the same as the initial measure for pricing.

Being template ready means the following:

  • If you are using a new sink, this is onsite prior to the date the template is scheduled
  • All base cabinets are installed prior to template session, and all overhead cabinets as well if you are doing a full height backsplash
  • All outlets and receptacles are in place.

*Please make sure to read all notes and information in your proposals/contracts. It is the client’s responsibility to read and understand this pertinent information. These notes will include, but are not limited to, whether support or demolition was figured, for example.
